How Mekinatrader works
Aggregated, live, and free for buyers and sellers.
For buyers
1. Browse without signup
Use the homepage or browse by make (Toyota, Hyundai, BYD, Suzuki) or by price (under 2M ETB, 2-3M ETB, 3-5M ETB, over 5M ETB). No account needed.
2. See real prices and photos
Every listing shows the seller's asking price in ETB, real photos (up to 8 per car), mileage, location, and the date it was posted. We don't hide prices behind logins.
3. Use price labels to spot value
Each listing is compared to similar cars (same make, model, year) and labeled Good Price or Overpriced. The label is based on cohort medians — useful for spotting bargains and avoiding bad deals.
4. Contact the seller directly
Each listing has direct seller contact — Telegram, WhatsApp, or phone. There's no middleman, no booking fee, no forced messaging system. Talk to the seller however they prefer.
For sellers
Right now, Mekinatrader is read-only for sellers — we aggregate from existing Telegram dealer channels. If you're an independent seller or dealer and want your listings included:
1. Post to a partner channel
Most established Ethiopian car dealer channels on Telegram are already in our scrape network. If you post there, your listings will appear on Mekinatrader automatically within the hour.
2. Get in touch to add your channel
Run your own dealer channel? Contact us and we'll add it to our scrape rotation. Free for now — we're focused on growing the buyer side first.
3. Self-listing is coming
Self-serve listing for private sellers is on the roadmap. For now, the easiest way to reach Mekinatrader buyers is through one of our partner channels. Sign up to be notified when self-listing launches.
What we don't do
- We don't set prices or take commission on sales.
- We don't verify individual sellers or inspect cars.
- We don't hold inventory or facilitate payments.
- We don't share buyer data with sellers without consent.
Asking prices on listings are what sellers posted — not what cars actually sold for. Always inspect the car, verify documents, and negotiate before buying.
Common questions
How often are listings updated?
Every hour, between 5am and 9pm EAT. New listings from partner channels appear within ~60 minutes of being posted.
Are the prices accurate?
Prices shown are the seller's asking price as posted on the source Telegram channel. They're not transaction prices and may be negotiable. We don't edit, mark up, or add fees.
Why do some listings have no price?
Some sellers list cars as "price on request" or negotiable. We mark these as "Price on request" and you can contact the seller for a quote.
What does "Good Price" mean?
Listings tagged Good Price are at least 10% below the median for similar cars (same make, model, year) on the marketplace. Useful as a starting signal, but always inspect the car before buying.
Is Mekinatrader free?
Yes. Browsing is free for buyers. Listing is free for sellers and partner channels. We may introduce premium features in the future, but core search will remain free.
Do you have an app?
Mekinatrader works as a Progressive Web App — install it from your browser (Chrome on Android, Share → Add to Home Screen on iOS) and get an app icon without the App Store. Native apps are on the roadmap.
