The problem we're solving

Buying a car in Ethiopia is harder than it should be. Listings are scattered across hundreds of private Telegram channels, Facebook groups, and broker WhatsApp networks. There's no single place to compare prices, filter by budget, or even know what's currently for sale.

Sellers struggle too. A dealer in Bole can't easily reach a buyer in Adama. A diaspora buyer in Dubai or London can't see the actual market — only what one or two contacts happen to know.

The market is fragmented, opaque, and largely undigitized. That inefficiency hurts buyers (paying too much, missing better options) and sellers (slower turnover, weaker reach).

What we built

Mekinatrader pulls live listings from 100+ verified Telegram dealer channels across Ethiopia into one searchable marketplace. The scraper runs every hour, photos and prices stay current, and you can filter by make, model, price, year, or location.

We're not a dealership. We don't hold inventory, set prices, or take a cut. We're a directory — connecting buyers and sellers who'd otherwise never find each other.

How the data works

• Hourly scraping: Our system fetches new listings from partner Telegram channels every hour, 5am-9pm EAT.
• Smart parsing: AI-assisted parsing extracts make, model, year, mileage, price, and location from each post — even when sellers write in mixed Amharic and English.
• Photo aggregation:Up to 8 photos per listing, hosted on our own CDN so they stay fast and don't disappear when channels go private.
• Price intelligence:Listings get tagged with "Good Price" or "Overpriced" labels based on cohort medians (same make, model, year).
• Direct seller contact: Telegram, WhatsApp, or phone — whatever the seller posted. No middleman.

Who's behind this

Mekinatrader is built by an Ethiopian entrepreneur splitting time between Addis Ababa, London, and Dubai. Background in software, product, and the diaspora networks that move capital between Ethiopia and the world.

We have skin in the game: this is a real business, not a side project. We're building for the long term — for the millions of Ethiopians who shouldn't have to scroll through 100 Telegram channels to find a Corolla.

What's next

Mekinatrader is early. The current focus is data quality and buyer experience — making sure every listing is accurate, fresh, and easy to filter. Next on the roadmap: buyer alerts (notify when your dream car appears), dealer dashboards, financing partner integrations, and an Amharic interface.
